Warm Steak Salad with Mandarin
Ingredients:
  • 250gm (appx 1/2 lb)  cooked steak, roast or sliced deli meat
  • 6 cups mixed salad greens
  • 300gm (appx 10 oz) fresh mandarins, peeled and segmented
  • 1/2 onion, cut into rings or finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon chilli powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Method:
  • Cut the meat into thin strips
  • Place the greens into a large salad bowl and add the mandarins, onion rings and meat
  • In a small microwavable container, mix the other ingredients together and microwave on High for around 30 seconds or until the dressing comes to a boil
  • Pour the dressing over the salad, toss lightly and serve

Notes:
  • If you don't have fresh mandarins available, tinned mandarins are an acceptable substitute
  • If you're really pressed for time, you can substitute a balsamic vinegar in place of the prepared salad dressing
